Alzheimer’s is one of the hardest diseases not only on the person that suffers from it but also on the family. All three of my grandmothers sisters suffered from this awful disease. Imagine going to see your own mother, wife, sister or grandmother and she not even know who you are. She may talk about you and have no idea she is talking to you. That’s one of the hardest parts of this disease on the family.
The Alzheimer’s Memory Walk is a nationwide event to not only raise awareness of the disease but also to raise funding for more research into this disease to hopefully find a cure or better medications to control the progress of Alzheimer’s. They are in need of ‘Team Captains’ to help promote the walk and get people motivated to sign up for the walk. This may be one of the first steps to finding a cure so the more people we can get signed up, the more awareness of the walk we can get out there, the more participation we can have. Please join a team or become a team captain and walk with us for those who can’t.

Have you ever heard of mystery shopping? Well that’s where you go into a store and buy all kinds of stuff from the store so you can tell the company you are working for if the store was clean or if you got good service. Get it? Well that sounds like the absolute perfect job for me. BestMark is a company that hires mystery shoppers for different stores to help them gather information that they can’t get on their own usually. When a mystery shopper goes into the store they are assigned to, they can ask for help and then report back if the associates were helpful or rude. That helps the stores serve their customers better and weed out the bad seeds that are actually hurting their store. Great idea huh? Now if I can just get that job, I’ll have a job doing what I love best, go shopping.
I decided I had some extra time on my hands and wanted to do something good. We don’t live very far from the animal shelter so I went up there to see if I could maybe help in some way. Guess what??? I get to play with puppies and walk some of the dogs that are there. I’m having a ball too. These poor doggies are usually left there because they got lost or their owners couldn’t take care of them anymore. One lady brought her beagle in with a litter of 9 puppies. She said she couldn’t afford to have her fixed and just couldn’t take care of puppies every time you turn around. I really felt sorry for her because she was crying when she left.
Anyway, if you want to help but don’t have time to play with puppies or walk the dogs, you can make some donations. Some of the items they need are things you might throw away anyway so put them to good use, okay? I’ve noticed there are several other blogs that have this list too so maybe we all need to help out. Here’s a list of what they need:
- Clean, old newspapers to be used for litter and lining cages
- Toilet seat covers (cats love to lie on them in their cages)
- Any type of cat or dog toy (plastic or washable)
- Old bath towels and blankets
- Canned cat food, any brand
- Bagged, dry dog food (particularly desired is Science Diet but other brands accepted)
- Laundry soap
- Bleach
- Heavy ceramic food and water bowls
- Antibacterial hand soap
- Candles - citrus or spice
- Paper towels

I told you about my best friend moving, well I didn’t realize just how much was was involved in a move like that. Especially when you need to know about interstate moving companies. My girlfriend was telling me that her Daddy contacted them about moving out of state, moving their other car, and they even helped them find another place to live. They offer an apartment hunter, real estate help, even mortgage help. Pretty cool. I was impressed but I still wish she wasn’t moving.
You are never going to guess what I found. It’s a web site that will actually pay you to write blogs. Imagine that, someone is going to pay me to write a blog about things I already was planning to write about in the first place. It’s a payperpost type thing where advertisers make offers to a blogger to write about their services, products, or what ever they want advertised. Hey, I’m in advertising!! Sounds important huh?
I was really needing some extra money anyway because with going to college this fall, there are so many things I’m going to need that I really hate putting it all on my parents. I’ll need new clothes, I can’t start college in what I wore to high school now can I? Of course that means new shoes too. Seriously, I’ll need books, and a bunch of supplies and if I can get those on my own, it will help my parents out a great deal. Books are EXPENSIVE!!!!!
