A bunch of us got together and went fishing, (I caught the biggest one) we played music, we laughed and we just had a great time at the pond behind our house.  It wasn’t too hot and it wasn’t too humid.  I’m telling you it was a perfect day.  There’s nothing better than spending the day with friends and having a blast doing nothing special. Just being together makes it special.

That’s what I do not like about August.  It was about 94 today and I think the weather man said it’s supposed to be about 98 tomorrow.  That’s even too hot to go swimming.  When it gets that hot, the pool feels more like bath water than something refreshing and cool like it’s supposed to be.  I sure hope this heat wave doesn’t last too long but I think the weather man said it’s supposed to be like this all week.  I’m staying inside all I can.

This evening I took my dog Brea (she’s a Westhighland White Terrior, Westie for short) for walk because the weather has been absolutely gorgeous the past 3 days but with studying for exams, I haven’t been able to take much advantage. So this afternoon I made up my mind to get home right after school and take Brea out for at least 2 hours.  There are so many other dogs in my neighborhood that I have to keep mine in a harness and on a short lease when we go for a walk.

On the way back home with Brea I noticed there were lightning bugs everywhere.  They were coming up from the ground in huge numbers. I didn’t realize they stayed in the ground during the day.  Anyway, it was like a bunch of different strands of Christmas lights strung out across the field and through the trees. It was almost breathtaking to see the hundreds of twinkling lights along the ever darkening horizon.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not one of those people that don’t do very well on tests but I can’t believe exams are coming already. I have been cramming all week long. In fact, I think I sprained my brain last night, if that’s possible. I bet they give you a three day weekend when you have to start cramming for exams on purpose. It’s the calm before the storm.

Have you seen all of storms they have had in the mid-west?   Man have there been a bunch of tornadoes this year or what. I am so glad I don’t live in the middle of ‘tornado alley’ as they call it. Those poor people lose just about everything if one hits their house or business. I feel so sorry for them. We are taking up donations at school for bottled water, canned goods and a whole list of other things they need to send to them through my church that is sending a bus load of men and supplies to help. It’s nice to know there are still people who care.

April  is one of those months when you are running around in your shorts because it’s warm and spring like one day and then old man winter reminds you that spring hasn’t sprung just yet and it’s back to long pants and a darn coat.  It was a perfect day yesterday and today, but would you believe I think it even sleeted this morning?  It’s enough to give you pneumonia.  In fact, I bet the doctors will be making a killing this month already.  I hate weather like this.  You never know if you need a coat, or just a jacket.  Oh well, hopefully it’ll be spring again soon.
